# AEO for Med Spas: How to Become the Answer AI Engines Give

Search is splitting into two jobs: ranking in Google and being the answer inside AI engines. Here is how we build service pages that do both.

SEO answers one question: can a prospect find your page in a list of results. AEO answers a different one: when an AI engine summarizes the answer, is your business inside that summary. Multi-service operators need both, because patients increasingly ask an assistant which clinic near them offers Emsculpt Neo or CryoSlimming before they ever open a map.

## What SEO and AEO actually mean

SEO (search engine optimization) earns visibility in ranked results — Google, Maps, Bing. AEO (answer engine optimization) earns inclusion in generated answers — Google's AI overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and voice assistants. SEO competes for position. AEO competes for citation. The technical overlap is large, but the content requirements are different: answer engines pull short, self-contained, factual passages they can quote.

## Why both matter for a full-menu business

A single-service clinic can survive on one ranking page. An operator running body sculpting, red light therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, IV therapy, and memberships has ten or more intent clusters. Answer engines resolve those long, specific questions — 'is Emsculpt Neo or CryoSlimming better for stubborn abdominal fat' — and if your site has no substantive page on either service, the answer gets built from someone else's content.

## The page structure that wins citations

Every service page needs a definition in the first hundred words, a clear who-this-is-for section, what to expect, honest pricing context, and an FAQ written as real questions with direct answers. Answer engines favor passages that stand alone. Long unbroken narrative does not get quoted; a tight paragraph under a specific heading does.

## Entity and location signals

AEO leans on entity clarity: consistent business name, services, and locations across your site, Google Business Profile, and citations, plus structured data (LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage) so machines can parse who you are and what you offer at each address. For multi-location operators, this means real location pages, not one page with a list of cities.

## How we measure it

Rankings still matter, but the leading indicators shift: branded search volume, citations and mentions inside AI answers, assisted conversions from organic, and booked appointments by service. We track visibility per service line, because the point is not traffic — it is filling the specific rooms that are underbooked.

## Conclusion

If your service pages are thin, both systems skip you. Build a substantive page per service, structure it so it can be quoted, and keep your entity data consistent everywhere. If you want a review of how your menu currently shows up in search and AI answers, that is what a strategy call is for.
